Deciding new vs used

I am looking for another TV. I only have a budget of about $800 just wanting some opinions on new vs used more then what TV to go with. I can get this years model for around $800 new or last years model used for half the price. The only difference I can see is the new model is thinner and has active LED zones. When it comes to TV's I usually buy new for the warranty just on the fence if the warranty and features are worth $400. Anyone here have any luck buying used?
