Deciding Between 9600Pro and 9500

They're the same price. 9600Pro is retail and 9500 is OEM. However, the 9500 is the sapphire card, with L-shaped memory configuration and red PCB, so with some luck, it can be soft modded; not a sure thing.

I can't decide which one... how is the 9500's performance before soft mod?

Nor did they ever...

I'd take the 9600 pro, just cause the softmod is too big of a gamble for me.

9500 = 9600 in gaming performance (don?t use 3Dmarks)_? and both are 30 - 40% slower than a 9600pro. 9500 is only a decent card if you can softmod.

update here: I got the All In Wonder 9600 Pro and so far am very happy with it.

It goes to 540/380 stable, doing 100 rounds of 3Dmark2003 Vertex Shader without artifacts, but I backed down to 533/375 just for some safety.

3938 3Dmarks on a (sadly crippled) 1.2Ghz AthlonXP.
