Now, should I get Maximus II Formula or a P5Q Deluxe? Though one possible problem is that I have a 280GTX and it might block one of the SATA ports on the P5Q.

Maxi II is part of the ROG, Republic of Gamers, so it has more options for overlocking, so chances are you'll be able to overclock better than P5Q Deluxe. I'm not sure component wise it's that much different compared to DX, the board layout looks similar in terms of core components. You also get a sound card if that's important to you. It may take some sound processing burden off the CPU.

As for SATA port, it's no big deal

By the way, I was looking at Maximum II as well. BUt I decided on the Deluxe becuase I got a good deal on it (~$160). If you think you're getting a sound card with the Maximum II, dont' bpther, it's a riser card with onboard chip that at best reduces EMI and at worse is not as efficient as direct onboard chip.

So the sound card is crap huh? I was wondering if it was worth it. So whats the difference between the P5Q Premium and the Maximus other than the sound card then? Better overclocking? I can see a lot of features and its getting a little confusing. I can see the teaming feature on the premium which I know I won't use and the Maximus has extra overclocking features but from all accounts the standard P45 is an excellent overclocker so I wonder if any of it is really worth it. Every time i check the asus page for new P45 boards there another one added, they're like damn rabbits...
