Deception; fermi's wood screws vs ivy bridge's video

Means DX11 support isn't solid enough that they were willing to risk a crash during a live demo. Anyone know if Intel snagged any driver software folks during AMD's layoffs?

Did AMD lay off anyone from the graphics division? It seems as though that's one of their best divisions at the moment so it would be kind of silly to get rid of people.

No department was completely spared. I know the lead designer of eyefinity got axed.

If they were under a no-compete clause it could mean Intel couldn't hire them. But I don't know the terms of no-compete and if they even signed one before or whatever.

I thought no-competes were illegal in cali
Unsure about other states.

When I was hired by a startup game company, I had to sign a non-compete, and an NDA.

I think its up to the discretion of the company. If the company has any smarts, they would be having their employees sign those documents!

Non-compete agreements don't really have all that much legal weight. Everyone signs them, but generally no-one really expects people to obey them.

There have certainly been defections directly from AMD into Intel in the past.

Wow, I'm quite shocked to see that their drivers and/or steppings are that far from retail polish seeing how close we are to IB release.

The CES demo as reported by Anand is not confidence building.

Oh man, that video. That's quite the attempt at deception having the racing wheel hooked up. The presenter tried to keep going for a bit but then walks off, heh.

At first I thought the "woodscrew" reference was hyperbole, but it's a pretty good comparison if not a bit tame. Any response from Intel on this?

Enough to scare the bejeezus out of many people who don't want to deal with the judicial process.

What's funny is that the video lags and is choppy in the first few seconds as Mooly pretends to start driving.

Then he tries to save face and say they're driving it from backstage, which is obviously ridiculous because they showed the laptop with the wheel right in front of him, not to mention the fact that he was playing a video.

3 months from release, that's not a good sign.

I just saw the video, ugh. Can't believe they actually tried to pull that off. How embarrassing. I had a lot of respect for Mooley, its sad to see him have a front-and-center culpable role in the effort to play everyone the fool in this little charade 🙁

He made a decent attempt at recovering once he could tell the wheels were coming off and the gig was up, but he still says "and its realtime".

I may be over-reacting to what I just saw in the video, but to me this is/was actually worse than Nvidia's JHH wood-screw debacle.

Amatuer hour at team Intel I guess. :|
