Decent Webcam "moved to peripherals"

Im wanting to set up netmeeting with my girilfriend, both on cable connecitons, her in Arizona myself in Scotland.....

I want something a bit better than those cheap ass pieces of "@*x you get for $10 but nothin too expensive. Webcams are something ive never really looked into, i know about digital cameras etc... and orther hardwrae. But can someone point me in the right direction as to where to look for decent reviews / places to buy webcams.

It would be purchased in the US.
