I realize theres a few threads on the same topic but, Im doing my part keeping the forum active.
Anyways, I am looking for a budget receiver in the $300 or lower category. This is going to be a Christmas present for myself(from my parents, lul).
I am somewhat experienced in the home theater and audio world, but I could use some recommendations on whats the good bang 4 buck receivers right now. I value sound quality over features really. I dont plan to do anything crazy with it, apart from a basic 5.1 config at some point. I will be using two front $600 Epos speakers or maybe some older B&W's.
Bestbuy just had a Harmon Kardon AVR-1700 I think it was for $200 which is originally $500. I almost got it but the sale had ended before I got there. I have read the audio quality isnt the best in that but, for $200.....
I know Marantz is pretty much top tier when it comes to quality, but they also usually cost $600+, out of this budget.
The others I have been looking at is Pioneer Elite(out of the budget), Denon(I like this brand), and Yamaha.
Right now im leaning towards some type of Denon. They seem to receive praise and still relatively cheap.
