I am planning on buying a PIII 850, 100 FSB, Processor for my slot 1 Intel 440BX mobo. I am looking to save a little money and buy the OEM version and buy a separate Heatsink fan.

Can you guys recommend a good place to get a good product for this slot 1 processor?? It won't be overclocked so the heat should not be drastically high..

I am just trying to cut a little off the price and work around getting the retail/box version.

The best value is the PIII-750. My cB0 OC's to 960 @ 1.75V. With my peltier I can get 960@1.65V, I have yet to OC higher because I dont have time to. (d@mn calculus and chemistry!)

I'd get a Global Win VOS32 HSF if you're on a budget. For all out cooling, grab an Alpha P3125. I bought my slot-1 system (1.5years ago) so I could exclusively use this mofo HSF ;)

As for overclocking, I don't think I will be able to pull that off.

The system I am upgrading is a Dell Dimension XPS R400, with old Dell Bios. It is run on the Intel 440BX chipset. I don't think DellBios will allow overclocking... so that's why I am going with the highest Mhz for the best price..

Hmm... no OC'ing, eh? A slot-1 Tt GORB should do ya for real cheap, like $15. IMO, a VOS32 would suit you better, but go with whatever you can afford. Just dont get one of those crappy 3-fan generic POS's.
