Decent RAM to OC with?

Is it too much to ask to be able to find 512megs of RAM that will overclock fairly well (nothing crazy) for around $85 shipped? It will be going into a system with an ABIT KV8Pro and Athlon64 3000+. Also, what should I be looking for with RAM as far as specs that will make it more apt to OC well and perform better overall?

Look for stuff that is already lower cas 2 and it should have some headroom so you can run cas 2.5....

does it have to be 1 stick or 2x256???

seems decent...my geils worked well until I stopped being able to use the 1:1 ratio, and got too high of an HTT!!!! The low cas 2,3,3,6 gives you some headroom...remember you have ram dividers and ram speed is not the end all for amd systems....

See Zebos stickied post in the cpu forums...

That seems like nice stuff. Unfortunately I am looking to go with 1 stick of 512 now and 1 stick later on. The board I am getting only has 2 DIMM slots. I am on a tight budget right now so thats why I am going to get one stick now and one later. Thanks for the suggestion of Geil though.

What about something like this Mushkin its tempting at that price. Is this stuff any good? I mean people on Newegg gave it some nice marks but that really doesnt mean much. Also whats all this stuff I hear about TCCD being some of the better stuff to OC with? Who uses TCCD on their mem modules aside from Samsung themselves anyway?

Mushkin is great memory.

And

You dont need to overclock your memory with an A64. Overclocking your memory makes pretty much Zero performance difference. Just drop the HT multi to 4 or 3, increase the bus to 250-260, and throw a 5:4 memory divider at it. No need to pay for expensive memory at all.

For low-latency (2-2-2-5) memory, Crucial Ballistix uses Micron TCCD and pretty much everyone else uses Samsung TCCD.
