Decent quality headphones for people with big ears? (Ill-fitting headphone question)

So, I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 425 headphones that I think I got at Circuit City, of all places, like 15 years ago. They're great quality -- audio quality, that is; the build quality is pretty shitty, actually -- and if memory serves they were around $120ish.

Anywho, when I wear them now, my ears get hot, I feel pressure on my head and it's just generally not that comfortable of a situation.

Anyone else experience this? Are ill-fitting headphones, like, a thing? And if you happen to have big ears, any suggestions for what to get?

These are for work, listening to MP3s/streaming audio, plugged in to a Macbook Pro, so I don't need great sound quality here. I'll spend what I need to, but "decent" will probably do, given that the source and the DAC aren't that great.

Any ideas?

Those are supraural (they rest on your ears) so you just want to find some newer comfortable circumaural headphones and you should be good to go. Or get lighter supraurals (I found Koss KSC-75s with some cheap metal headband to be quite comfortable for instance). Or maybe IEMs (which would likely offer the best isolation if that's what you want).

I'd link the InnerFidelity Wall of Fame but for open full sized headphones they're all $299+

Here's the full sized closed headphones: http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/innerfidelitys-wall-fame-full-size-sealed
I wonder if your ears might get warm with closed headphones though.

Here's the earpad open: http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/innerfidelitys-wall-fame-ear-pad-open

You might also want to try out the Audio Technica ATH-AD700X headpones. I have the ATH-AD700s which preceded them and it looks like the general fit is the same it's the drivers that have changed. They rest very lightly on my ears and I can wear them for hours on end without even really noticing that I'm wearing them. Linky: http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica...nica+ATH-AD700

Thanks for the tips, guys. Most of those are probably more than I want to spend for my "work" headphones, but hopefully I can find something more reasonable that'll fit my dumbo ears. :-D

JVC HA-RX700/900 big and reasonably priced. Otherwise I send the Audio Technica AD700, even AT M50 when on sale. If its just the clamping force that is giving you a problem, just put your headphones and something wider than your head for a few days. I always break my headphones using a cut down empty paper towel roll.
