decent project car?

just want an inexpensive, (CHEAP!!), project car, i have to be able to modify it, but it must be a decent stocker. um, parts available, and dont cost godly amounts.

any ideas?

I'd have to agree here. You might have trouble with the GTO there (obviously a great choice), but thankfully there are a number of older RWD cars that are just asking to be fixed up as a project car like you want.

Project car and cheap don't work well together...but the cheapest you'll get is probably a Mustang 5.0.

Late 70s AMC Gremlin or Early 80s AMC spirit. If you can find one that came with a V-8 stock your set for a good project. Working my my Hornet i havent run into anything that has cost more than $50 bucks parts wise to fix (rebuilding the transmission excluded)

no shockwave, i am NOT putting a ls1 into a bmw 318is. although i would want to.

and no, i wasnt really considering an RX-7, that is my cousins car not mine, it was fun to drive, but prolly not the easiest to maintain.

looks, ehh, dont have to have them.

speed/power. i like muscle cars. my uncle has an old elcamino with a 327 small block dropped in it. he is currently working on putting a 440 into a limited edition car(completely forget the car name)

seriously, i would spend the least on looks, most on the other stuff.

GTO is gunna cost money. id have to go junkyard diving to find a nice one.

i think my first project might be an R/C car. go junkyard diving, and buy the necessary equipment for that.

but, would like ideas on project cars right now.

71'-72' BMW 2002 tii, classic look & good appreciation potential.

280 SL MB, last of the light ones, m/t highly prized, make sure it has the Pagoda top.

TR 3, if you find one with no rust, easy restoration.

TR 4, lest dough & roll-up windows.

Both are great cars to restore. We have one of each.

I don't know if it helps, but some of the Triumphs are going to be easy to restore and work on so keep those in mind.

That one would be a big bite for a first timer, but well restored they go for $15k and up. The same for the BMW tii pre-73.

Awesome cars, look great, can be gotten cheap, can be heavily modified, and will accomadate LT1/LS1.
