Hey guys, just needing to ask a quick question on how many watts is needed by a name brand PSU to handle the whole SLI'd GPU and Quad Core CPU setup.

I don't really want to buy a lower end PSU right now and find out I need something better when I do decide to make my pc SLI and quad core.

I have heard rumors from people who say they read up on the matter and they say you need 1000 watts just to run any SLI system.

So I look at the prices of these PSU's and realise if such a thing is true I will just upgrade my PSU when the time comes.

Thanks in advance guys... If you can just throw me a few names and watts that you think would do alright for such a system. Also the SLI would be from the highest end cpu and gpu to date. Probably qx6700 and 8800gtx "SLI".

Take Care!

:shocked::(

A nice Corsair HX620 for $127 AR will power a QX6700, 8800GTX SLI, 4GB DDRII, 3 SATA HDD's, 2 DVDRW, X-Fi, 5 120mm quiet fans with a 70% max load on the psu @ 82% efficiency. If you want a little more headroom for $43 more pick up a PCP&C Silencer 750 Quad.

I agree with your first recommendation
