Decent new routers

Anyone have experience with the newer 450Mb/s dual band routers and good/bad stories?

I'm in the market to upgrade as my current Buffalo only does either/or 2.4/5 and has issues with getting overloaded and needing rebooted quite often.

I've always hated researching routers because it just seems like none of them actually work like they should.

I was interested in the Linksys 4200v2/4500 however while the "market" reviews are quite favorable, I see so many bad reviews about the devices regarding the firmware updates and cloud interface (which is just dumb for a home use router) and hardware in general.

Pretty much all that I've looked at have this issue or that issue or don't do this or don't do that. You would think in this day and age, a router would be pretty straight forward because by now we all know what we want in a router. Kills me that it takes 3rd party open source firmware to even get close.

My Asus RT-AC66U's (bought a pair, one as a router one as a bridge) have been perfect for me. Easy setup, fast, not a single reboot needed for going on several weeks now.

Jack above me won't recommend them, as the AC standard is not a standard yet. And he's got more experience so you should listen to him. But that said they've been perfect for me.

I've been using this for a few months now and don't have any complaints. Great signal strength, only restarted once due to firmware update, easy to use interface with fairly expansive options. Only thing I wish it had was instantaneous bandwidth monitoring.
