Hey guys, need some advice cause ive been out of the computer scene for a while now. My buddy is upgrading his computer and asked me to find out what he should get as far as a motherboard and RAM and even if he should get a different CPU. He ask me cause ill be putting it together but my knowledge for all the new stuff is around zip.

Anyways, he was planning on getting a AMD Athlon XP 2800+ "Barton", 333 FSB, 512K Cache CPU, should he be getting a different one and if so which one?
Which motherboard to get? He wont be doing any OC and it doesnt need onboard video/sound/nic (doesnt matter if it does though).
Thirdly, what RAM to get?

I really apprciate the help. I unforunatly do not have much time to research info like i did before so im at a lost now with all the new stuff (last time i was into PCs was when athlon 1.4s where the new thing to get if that helps ya any).

Thanks

Kao

since he is not ocing, a 2800+ will be better than the highly recommened 2500+

NF7-s is a great board

Corsair XMS, Kingston Hyper X, or mushkin are all good choices for ram

just about ANY of the NForce2 boards will do great. If he is budget minded, look at the Shuttle AN35N Ultra. The Abit NF7-S is good too. Really, you can't go wrong, just make sure it has the features he is interested in.

Check Buffalo Ram too...great RAM and great prices.
