I bought Enemy Engaged 2 a while ago, but I wasnt able to get the controls down being a newbie to helicopter sims. Can anyone recommend another game that has a decent in game tutorial to get me used to some of the controls?

Doesnt have to be brand new or anything, just something to get me into it so I can learn how to fly for some newer sims when they come out (and for this copy of enemy engaged 2)

To be honest, I actually cut my teeth so to speak with helicopters in Battlefield 2 and ARMA. While those aren't flight simulators they do give you the basics of how a helo flies. I've never played the EE series so I don't know how basic/advanced the flight controls are but BF2 and/or ARMA is where I'd suggest you start.

Also, be sure to pick up a joystick if you don't already have one. My first one was a Logitech 3d Extreme Pro which can be had for around $20-$30. It's really all you need to get started.

When you get the hang of choppers be sure to check out DCS: BlackShark which will be out later this year for the PC:

That DCS game looks like Arma with a bunch of effects mods. (ArmaFX, SLX Hit Effects, Arma Visual Upgrade, SLX Mod, Dynamic viewdistance XEH, Arma Effects)

Not to mention Track IR. You get all that, you got yourself a choppa sim! :)

Sounds like I need to reinstall ARMA, I didn't know they had all those mods out. It's been a long time since I've played. Do they have all of those files at Armaholic?

Black Shark looks good. I wonder how the campaign is run. Dynamic or linear missions? I had a blast with Falcon4 dynamic campaign, and after playing with it for awhile, you can't really get back into linear missions. ;)

I wouldn't doubt they're at Armaholic, I got those at ArmedAssault.info though. Arma's got a new RTS/CTI (official) map out. It was made by the original CTI creator, who now works for BIS and has been working on this new CTI for about a year. It's released, called Warfare. I cannot wait until modders play with it and make it addon friendly ;)

Is Falcon4 a good sim, I mean can you have fun with it? or is it just too technical? I've heard it is good but very technical. I like detail but will likely only play it casually, if it's crazy technical I don't how much I would like it.

Thanks for the suggestions, that Black Shark looks great

I was pretty good with the helicopters in Operation Flashpoint, but that was a lot different with mouse and a couple of keys as opposed to a joystick and a million keys in Enemy Engaged. I'll be sure to go buy Arma though, really enjoyed OFP and those mods look good

If your PC is Dual-Monitor capable or have another PC on your network, have a look at TouchBuddy. You can run the game on one monitor and have all of your flight controls on the secondary one. It's made for touchscreen monitors but works just as good with a mouse.
