Can anyone name one?

I want to get the full install of Win 2k SP4 (going to need it for 3 machines, and want a backup), and I'm on a 56k, so i'm looking for something that would allow me to resume if I get disconnected, since it'll take about 6 hours or something stupid to download :(

FlashGet

Does everything I want it to, as a 64k ISDN user. Since youre on narrowband like me, make it use one stream instead of the 4 or 5 it does as default - that only really helps those with faster conns and i noticed around 1kps faster with a single stream. Also when downloading anything large, make sure the tiny icon (the little square on the left of the download listing) is green - red means the server doesnt support resume.

I got the 100mb Enemy Territory Test and later the 257mb Enemy Territory full with it. For the latter I went away for the weekend and came back to find the download completed (after approx 10 hours, since i have a 2hour cutoff from ISP, 5 times FlashGet redialled my connection and continued the download), and my PC shut down as I had instructed. It also manages to work well whenever you click a download in IE, taking the actual file you want even when you only have those fileid=blah type download links.

Does look a bit complicated at first, but I've found no reason to bother trying any different DL manager since. :)

FlashGet is great.

Has a nice feature where you can right click a gallery of thumbnails, and it will download all the large pictures the thumbnails link to. Just takes a few easy clicks.

How you can split your download into multiple streams really speeds stuff up. For example, I was downloading some E3 footage of a game from a server that was gettin hit pretty hard. Everyone on the forum whined of only getting 15kb/s, but with multiple streams I got many times as much bandwidth :).

Some servers are smart though and only allow one download from your IP.

Hey guys, do any of those free managers allow you to do something that I've only seen on Gozilla...? And that is:

Allow you to to get sort of a folder listing of an http site, and you can highlight all the files you want to leech from it? Pretty much like an FTP browser, except it lets you do it for http sites as well?

Because I could REALLY use that feature in a free program.

I had been using FreshDownload for a few months, and really liked it, but it was just missing that one feature I had mentioned above. I just downloaded LeechGet, and I think it's quite a bit more robust and powerful. It does EVERYTHING I should need from a download manager. :) Thanks guys!

I use an older version of Net Vampire. It's extremely simple to use and I've never had any problems with it (yes, it's shareware but it rocks).

Leechget provides Mozilla support via a small, downloadable plug in. Can't comment on the other apps mentioned here though I would assume most decent ones provide similar functionality.
