I'll be taking a lady out this weekend for a first date. She lives right across the river in North Jersey so the plan is to take the ferry to Manhattan. I haven't been to NYC in probably 5 years or more, so I'm in need of some help.

Can anyone suggest some decent (and not TOO expensive) places in Manhattan that would be good for a date? Style of food isn't important, but nothing too crazy.

Also, what other reasonably-inexpensive/fun things are there to do in NYC?

Rosa Mexicano is a good place, the one in Union Square is the best. Hit that after you go to the Top of the Rock for sunset. After that hit Lillies Bar on 13 E 17th st, a couple blocs down from Rosa.

First, what town does she live in in NJ? There are some good restaurants on the NJ side of the river and you will get more for your money.

There are hundreds of place...pick out a budget and what kind of food you want, and you'll find a place. check out restaurant week options. oops nvm I think that's M-F only?

I made reservations for a placed called Stuzzicheria. It's a middle-of-the-road place price-wise, but it's gotten some good reviews and I came across a few mentions in my Googling. Let's hope it's good. 😛

If you are looking for dinner on the NJ side two good places are the Chart House in Weehawken and The River Palm Terrace in Edgewater. The Chart House is on the water and has views of Manhattan.

edit: I assumed you were looking for semi fancy dinner places. If you want more of a bar there are a ton of choices on both sides of the river.
