I'm looking for a CAD system to help me design the transmission of a custom radio controlled truck I'm wanting to make. I started with paper, but figured in this day and age there must be something decent out there on the computer.

It can be for OSX, Linux or Windows. Preferably windows....

Thanks in advance.

WTS Solidworks Reg code / serial. hahahahahhahaha.

all serious. Solidworks, i hear is a pretty damn good at what it does. Here's a link: http://www.solidworks.com/

i'm sure many many big name companies use it along with other cad software.

iirc, you can't buy it directly from solidworks, you gotta buy it from a reseller. Solidworks doesn't directly sell.

I prefer Pro/E personally. I learned CAD using the old 2D AutoCAD stuff, but the parametric 3D modeling that they are now doing with stuff like Pro/E, Inventor, or SolidWorks is definitely the way to go. But it takes a bit of learning to pick up the new way of doing things though.

Heh I work for SolidWorks :) So yeah I would suggest that. Quite possibly the easiest CAD package to just pick up and start using right off the bat.
