Decent but cheap PSUs @ Newegg, for various builds? Could use immediate answers. (Ordered the Antec VP Plus)

Looking to purchase maybe a couple right now.

I've got most of the parts to put together an i5-9400F build, and a few R5 1600 builds, minus GPUs and PSUs.

GPUs, well, I'll have to hold off for now, but I wouldn't mind getting them built with PSUs for now.

Looking for some decent sale specials, heard recently that the Seasonic S12-III series is NOT a Seasonic home-grown PSU, but was outsourced?

Not really sure what's available around 500-600W, 80Plus Bronze or better, for around $40 or so shipped. (Maybe $45 with shipping.)

NO REBATES.

Edit: Also need one for a cheap-o Skylake Celeron build with a refurb H110 mobo, also need a cheap kit or stick of RAM for that. Newegg had an 8GB GSkill DDR4-2400 with red heatspreader single DIMM for $29.99 recently.

Edit: I think I found one:

Good Ole' Antec... a 650W (presumably, they still make PSUs that live up to their specs), 80Plus (standard, 85% efficiency), and only $49.99 FS @ Newegg. Has dual 6+2 PCI-E connectors, and 7 SATA connectors and 2 Molex/Periph. connectors. Seems decent. Ok, not 80Plus Gold, and not modular, those things might be worth another $20-30 to someone, but I'm trying to keep costs down and within reach.

No reviews yet, which is a little disconcerting. I've always done right by Antec PSUs. They always used to be a bit on the expensive side, these seem reasonable.

Also, 3-year warranty from Antec.

Edit: VP Plus series mentions Japanese capacitors too.

I'm VERY picky about PSU's. Seasonic...or another brand like Corsair...as long as it's Seasonic built. My old Corsair 620HX is still humming right along. It was bought and installed in August 2007...

I ordered one of the Antec 650W VP Plus ATX PSUs last night, among other things. We'll see how it works out. I generally trust Antec, but I don't know if these, being their entry-level lower-cost line, if they're out-sourced or not.

(Or, alternatively, since Antec isn't an OEM PSU maker to my knowledge, then they're all out-sourced, so it's basically a moot point.)

As long as it uphold traditional Antec level of quality and reliability, then I'll be happy with it.

Edit: Budget-wise, it was basically the Antec, a Corsair (after rebate, bah), or slumming with Rosewill's entry-level PSUs, which don't get the best reviews.

Edit: Not to disparage Rosewill, I've used their entry-level RD-series, and Glacier series PSUs for budget / budget gaming builds. As well as their 5-year warranty Capstone 80Plus Gold PSUs, for more up-market builds.

Mostly, they have been fine, although I did get a bum Glacier PSU at one point, but that could also have been because I dropped it two feet onto carpet. Not really sure what the root issue was, or if that kind of a drop is enough to kill a PSU.

There's a lot of good units, from multiple manufacturers, from entry-level units to top-of-the-line units. Corsair TX-M, RMx the updated CX-M, Seasonic Focus Plus and EVGA G3 are a few ones of the top of my head, and are all units that usually have some type of MIR to drive down the price.

Unfortunately, most Antec units aren't that great. They really are a shell of what they used to be, which is a shame because they used to be the company almost all computer builders trusted for so many years.

For example, the last review I read on one their High Current Gamer unit wasn't very good. It was based on Seasonic's Focus Plus platform, but certain changes were made for Antec. Various safety features which it claimed it had, did not work properly (like OCP and in which they killed two units testing it).

Yeah, in the $70-80-90 range. But I need some cheap-but-decent, "Builder PSUs", which output rated wattage, have one (or multiple) PCI-E 6+2s for modern GPUs, and have at least minimally-decent efficiency. For around $50 shipped or less. Tall order, I know, and the tariffs aren't really helping matters much.

Yeah, the tariffs definitely haven't helped, and I've seen their impact on PSU pricing.

I got my $93 shipped 650 Seasonic Focus Plus unit and its quite beautiful. Full modular is so lovely. Got a nice little surprise but if i register the unit i get a $25 Steam ecard. The little hybrid button threw me off and well why wouldn't it? I have been using CX units for years cause of budget contraints and using this Seasonic is like enjoying some In-n-out after years of being subjected to Mcdonalds.
