What are some decent budget speakers? The factory ones in my Geo Prizm are horrible so I think anything would be better than them. I'd like to keep it around $100 give or take for fronts and backs if possible. I'm not expecting nothing special at the price range but they should be better. I may go on ebay for them as I might be able to get better speakers for the money.

I've never bought car speakers before so I am clueless.

Personally I'm a fan of Infinity References off eBay. Lacking in bass (if you don't have a sub) and the tweeters sound harsh to some people but I like them overall for the price. Had Infinity Reference coxials in my old car and have Infinity Reference 6010cs components in my current car.

You may want to concentrate on better speakers for the fronts and leave the rears as is. Are you using the stock headunit, aftermarket headunit, or amp?

If you look around eBay or craigslist you can put together a fairly good system pretty cheaply. My current setup cost me about $250 and I am very happy with it. $75 for IR 6010cs for the fronts, $100 for the sub (kenwood sub plus custom fiberglass enclosure), $75 for 2 amps (JBL and Kicker). Won't be winning any competition but gets nice and loud without distortion.

Look on Crutchfield's site for what fits, then source them from somewhere cheaper, like Cardomain, eBay or Craigslist. Pay attention to shipping costs, they add up.

Sometimes Crutchfield has good deals on their closeouts or specials, and their support is very good if you have any problems.

Well one of my rears is blown or something because it pops and cracks. I'm not worried about getting a sub right now(maybe down the road). I am using a JVC headunit just took the stock out. I'll check out those Infinities and Crutchfield.com.

I have Infinity Kappas, got them on sale for cheap a while back, and I like them a lot. I've compared them to a limited number of other options (Sony, Kenwood, Polk, low-end MB Quartz, and I like my Kappas the best.

The Kappas were a little too expensive for me so I just went with the Reference which to me, still sound better than many others. Kappas are awesome but I'm not an audiophile. The Reference are price relatively cheaply and get decent sound out of them.
