Decent 17" inch Lcd Monitor

Lemon law

Lifer
Thus morning my CRT monitor got really sick--color balance way off so I am in the market
for a flatpanel LCD---trying to stay in the under $230.00. I do need regular VGA 15 pin
connection, I am not a gamer and don't need super fast refresh speed, and am looking to buy locally
so I can reject a given unit with dead pixels.

Looking at the princeton at costso for $180.00 but don't need the included speakers.
Fry's has a samsung on sale this week for $170. after rebates but I don't like rebates.

I would almost prefer 1024x768 resolution but all the 17" units seems to be 1280 x1024.

I am also in driving range of office depot, office max, staples, circuit city, and best buys.

Any inputs would be appreciated.

i hit my crt daily well my old one i put the good half of the picture toob on this one

but hitting crts is ok it might fix problem

Thank you for the responce pkme2,

But I went to Fry's and fell in love with a 19" viewsonic at $230.00. It may not be the best choice but I did not have the advantage of much time to replace it. And I checked it out
before I bought it and no dead pixels. But so far, its drop dead gorgious.---but will it last 10 years?

And I am still somewhat freaked out---its a bigger world at 1280x1024.--but text gets much smaller.
