New build coming, and i want a new monitor (old is 3 1/2 year old HP 15" monitor *ouch!*). I would like to run it at 1280x1060 (i think that's wat it is) at a 85hz refresh rate. I've been looking at samsung so far. THx!

There's no way to get a monitor with those refresh rates at a price like that.

Looking at your system there, a pc like that deserves much better than a crap 17 incher!

Most 17" monitors max res is 1280 x 1024 with a 66hz refresh rate. If you want 85 hz you should look at 19"ers.

I would go with a 19 inch, but i'm hurting for desk space. Hmmm...the only reason i wanted the 85hz is because some people have said that with that high refresh rates it doesnt really hurt your eyes as much. If you guys think that 66 or so is enough, then what do you suggest for that?

EDIT: I may have more money when i get it, so what about $150-200?

I have an Iiyama Vision Master Pro 17" that can do 1280x1024 @ 85 Hz and 1600x1200 @ 70 or so.

I need to get rid of it since I now have a Viewsonic P95f+, so maybe we can work something out. I don't have a history selling things online, so you may want to check elsewhere, but I think that monitor would be perfect for what you are doing if you can find it. IMO, it's better than my current Viewsonic (except for the smaller size).

Hmmm, maybe I'll have to look into a dual monitor setup...at least that would get me some additional use out of my monitor.

OK, never mind, I'm keeping it! :)

Still though, see if you can find one of those.
