Debit Card Question...

Ok, so I'm working this summer (Racking in the $), and I'm going to set up a bank account this week. I'm 15, so can I get a debit card from Citizens Bank? I've got a few questions about Debit Cards too...
Is there a minimum I have to spend at stores (can I just use it to buy a coke?)
If I can't get one, are there any other options besides credit cards, in which I can pay for things without cash?
Thanks

I have a Visa check card/debit card and there is no minimum purchase. Though I don't know if you'll be able to get one being only 15.

Unless we have some Citizen's Bank employees here, how would we know?

I doubt you can get a debit card by yourself at the age of 15, maybe if you were 16 and had a student checking/savings account you could get it.

My first suggestion is to contact Citizen's Bank and ask them can you get a debit card? If their answer is no, then ask them why and how could you get one?

Maybe wait until you turn 16.

Or if your parent's, brother, sister, or friend can co-sign on an account, they would be the primary account holder and add you as an authorized user then you can get a debit card.

You should be able to get a debit card, but you may have to wait until you're 18 before you can get a check card.

Anyone know if there is a minimum purchase on debit cards? And what is a check card?

I think the minimum purchase is around $0.50 I've purchased gum using a check card before.

A debit/check card are the same thing, just different names.

A debit card IS a check card. it basic withdraw directly from your account. And I've used my debit/check card for purchases as little as $.96 So i doubt there is a minimum charge unless one is instituted by the bank.

Just went to Visa's website and Citizens Bank is not supported by the Visa Check Card...oh well, I'm going to get a Citizens Debit Card then I guess.

Debit card and check card is not the same thing. Check card can be used as "credit" as in you have to sign for it. I believe that debit cards require you to enter pin numbers. I got my check card when I was 16, with a joint account checking with my mom. You will not be able to get a debit card unless you have a checking account and you can't get one until you're 18 (at BofA at least).
