Just a heads up that someone has managed to get debian running on the western digital live set top box sold for media playback.
The box has a fast processor and comes with 512MB ram, normally only does video playback ,and it does that well, but following the link below you can make it play video and run debian . So far people have ftpd, nzbget, rtorrent, python, etc running fine. You can also just update the firmware if you are only interested in things like adding ftp support.
