1. Voodoo 3 PCI
2. Voodoo 4 PCI
3. Radeon 32 PCI
4. Geforce 2mx PCI

i don't need any tv output and all that extra stuff. only for 2d/3d games and business apps. whats your take? thanks!

i would get the radeon if you are going to do more 2d or the mx if you are going to do more 3d...i would stay away from 3dfx because of their lack of new drivers...also if you r going to be using windows 2000 i would get the mx because of nvidia's better drivers in 2k

I like the Voodoos the best, frankly. They can run just about anything out there now thanks to Glide support, they have very good image quality in both 2D and 3D, and they have good, established drivers including Win2K ones. It's true that they aren't updating the drivers anymore, but I haven't had a problem with the final set. The Voodoo3's are very inexpensive right now - $40 or less.

The Voodoo 5 cards are supposedly very fast, but now the PCI ones are getting VERY expensive, compared to your other choices. I'm using a Radeon SDR PCI 32MB, and it's pretty good, but perhaps the Geforce would be faster; someone who has used both can comment on that.

Radeon or Voodoo, imho. Although fwict the Geforce3 has good 2d, the older Geforces require a difficult hack to get them to look good.

i would get a MAC voodoo5 and flash it to the PC version. they are about $80 at pricewatch, and are much faster than any of the other PCI cards, as they don't lose a ton of performance when converted from AGP to PCI.

definitely get the NVidia.. ATI has trash win2k drivers and Voodoo barely has drivers at all! :Q I'd get the MX in 2 seconds!

Radeon PCI hands down...
OR
If you for some odd reason don't like ATI cards, get the Voodoo5...
OR
If you have loads of cash get a Geforce3. they'll be coming out soon.

If you get anything else, I'll hurt you.

your an idiot BaconGrease, 3dfx didn't merge with nVidia, they were blatantly bought out. If you want to talk about something, state the facts, not some crap you made up in your mind.

I have no benchmarks/evidence, but my intuition tells me that a GF3 PCI card would be a waste. I don't think the PCI bus offers enough bandwidth to keep a GF3 busy. Plus, anyone who doesn't have an AGP slot in their mobo has an old machine and would be the last person to buy a high-end video card.

The only place for a GF3 PCI would be the server/workstation market where systems employ boards like the ASUS CUR-DLS that are all PCI.
