So for the Wii, assuming I find one, should I get one? Will the price be dropping more than $50 anytime within the next 6 months? Are there enough decent games out for it yet? Is there any multiplayer functionality in any games currently so I can play with a friend? Will extra wiimotes/chuks become more affordable or have other companies make knock offs anytime soon.

Should I upgrade my 27" CRT before i worry about one?

When's the last time a console went down in price in even the first 12 months of its life?

I can't understand why everyone keeps talking price drops on these new consoles. 2 years out is the typical absolute minimum of any price drops, and even then that's a stretch. The only way you're going to get in on a price drop is to wait a few more months, and if the Wii absolutely bombs by this time next year, then expect a drop. But don't expect it to.

Anywho, the Wii will only go as high as 480p, so your 27" CRT should suit it perfectly fine.

Decent games out are the Wii Sports that's bundled with the console, of course Zelda, and maybe a couple more. Check the official Wii sticky thread for more info on that.

Nintendo made and branded Wii-motes/chucks probably will not come down in price, but the knock-offs themselves would be cheaper. Not sure how reliable they'd be, though, given that this is a very different type of controller.

Sorry guys, I really dont know the past history of price drops on consoles :) Thats why I asked.

I wasnt sure if there were going to be any improvements or changes that would cause the initial wiis to drop in price.
