I am thinking of selling off some Raptor 150's and getting either this drive which I have all the components needed for it or this drive.

If you wanted the best between these two, which would you go with. Ruby, are you out there?

Thanks for lookin,

IIRC ruby loves the 15k rpm Hdds. If you have the controller for them, I say go ahead.

BTW I still have Opty 170 build laying around -- complete with A8R32 + x1900xtx!

HAH! I just bought another case so I can resurrect my 939 build. I use to have a FX 60 but 300$ + on ebay for it, well, farewell my FX60: and that was less than 4 months ago. So that's how i ended up back to an this Opteron, and from what the manufacutre date says, it should clock up to 3.1Ghz :D just need to swap out the mobo for a DFI board.

I was never disappointed with my old Maxtor Atlas II scsi drive. Infact the only reason why i am not using it right now is cause it's only a 36Gb drive. The switch to the Raptor was less than WOW...

Thanks for the reply :)

Cheers

Just bought a Caviar1TB black. very satisfied, about 90MB/sec copying into it and 235MB/sec burst read speed via HDTune. Not as fast as Velociraptor but for a main OS drive is still quite good. Way faster than the 2x500gb AAKSs they are replacing.

i personaly go with velicirator over fuji simply for reliability and name brand but the 15k I think will do great in seek time sensitive usages like searches. But the SATA interface is just easier to handle for a home rig. So Veloci is my pick out of these two.

Considering you could do raid0 Velociraptors for $60 more than the single 15k drive I know which I would choose.

Not that I'm recommending raid0, mind you...

I think I may go with the VRaptor. I recently reinstalled my old Ultra 320 card and drive and forgot how the 15k rpm really can make noise in a quiet room. I don't mean from reading and writing, i mean the whuuuuur of a 15k rpm drive

Velociraptor is a pretty damn fast drive so..... If I was changing my 74gb raptor main drive to anything, that would be the one id pick.
