Is it me or is this one a LOT harder than the 1st one? And hell, I thought the 1st one was pretty touch early on.

The 1st big boss you fight is level 4 and i was only level 2. Plus all the lower level paratroopers made this one hell of a fight.

I tried to level up at least one more time but there just isn't enough enemies to level up. Ended up killing the boss at level 2 anyway but it was a long fight.

Also, a lot of the enemies have guns so there's lots of ranged attacks.

The 1st one isn't all that hard. I just started it two days ago, and I am doing fine. (pure melee). It does get tough in some situations,(I died 3 times already) but this happened mostly because I was rushing through the game, charging, into hoards of enemies.

I hate the ranged enemies. The game doesn't control too precisely IMO, and strafing is useless, because I end up not using it most of the time, treating this game like Diablo. The bastards keep running away, and I have great difficulty hitting them unless they get cornered with nowhere to go. I am forced to kite constantly, and eat drumsticks as I do it.

Although Deathspank is a great game, I wish they would do away with all the silliness and make a serious game like Diablo, not that I don't enjoy the silliness too.

I would say it's a bit more difficult and you get missions that take a lot longer to complete. I'm around level 8 or 9, but now every time I "Continue Game" it crashes to the desktop. Really frustrating. Looks like I might have to start over. :(

:| What? Are you on crack? The game is called DeathSpank and you want to get rid of the silliness? That's the game, that's the character and charm of it. Just go kick some puppies while you're at it.

exactly. The whole point of the game is its absurdity. Without it, well, it would be pretty crappy. The humor and stupidity is what makes it awesome.

I really don't get this - if you want a serious game then play Diablo. That's like saying "I enjoy Need for Speed, but they really should have done away with all the cars and just given us bicycles instead".

I didn't find the first one too hard. It was a bit challenging at first, but I learned to be quick on the heal potions, since they are cheap and plentiful. I also picked up the second during the steam sale, but haven't tried it yet.

Check this post on the Steam forums by Hothead:

Plenty of people have this issue - Hothead released an unofficial patch that will be pushed later on to Steam if they test it enough. You may want to give it a shot - it's just one file that should be replaced (and you can backup the old one too).

EDIT: It worked for most people - http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1625033&page=7 and onwards.

EDIT2: In case you're in doubt - Hothead is the developer of the game :)

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.

Edit: Hey, that fixed it! Thanks.

I'm finding it a little tougher than I expected. I didn't play the first one other than the demo, so I'm not sure comparison wise. I've already had to reduce the difficulty once just to get through the nun boss fight. It seems like the main game is quite a breeze, but the bosses are a huge PITA.

Regardless the game is fantastic. The humor is top notch with the voice acting being just bit TOO corny in some spots, but usually right at the boundary where it's still funny. Makes me wish I started with the first one.

Whats deathspank? Looks fun from google image.

A grotesque look at the life of a hero of a hack'n'slash game. Cheesy, over-the-top, very funny dialogue, all voiced and a great adventure in general! Both the original and Thongs of Virtue (play in that order).

I had a blast with the first one, was rather easy though (except a boss or two). The second one upped the difficulty and fun factor in general!

"These Metal Shoulderpads protect my shoulders and... err... are made out of metal! That's right!" :D

I was enjoying it and my 9 year old was enjoying watching me play. Then all of a sudden a message pops up about a second player can join since a second controller is available (I have an XBox controller plugged in to my comp at all times) - CO-OP, Hells yeah! Now my 9 year old and I are enjoying playing it together - Me as Deathspank, him as the wizard.
