I suggest you listen to what the guy with the AR15 had to say, his argument was more cogent than the teenage angst stream of consciousness you cobbled together above.

The guy pulling the radio stunt? Why the hell should anyone listen to him?

Radio stunt? I'm talking about the black dude with glasses - his point was that in his state open carry is perfectly legal and he keeps on getting harassed by police. So he went to the rally with a rifle to publicize the fact that it is perfectly legal to do so.

But we are talking about the POTUS here (unless I got lost in the thread). Where is the line drawn? Can he go near him? Point it at him as long as the safety's on? Think about the security logistics if you can carry loaded firearms around the President (and you are not police/on his staff). You would basically need eyes on every person with a weapon, as they can just raise and fire.

In places where there is open carry, are you allowed to carry ANYWHERE (I don't know, I'm Canadian)? Could I get into a concert with one? A library? A school?

Anywhere a presidential event is held is deemed a federal site and the boundary is determined by the secret service. So there are never any people running around with loaded guns around the president (i/e you won't get inside the building with a gun).

States determine carry laws individually, but generally federal buildings, bars, courts and the post office don't allow you to carry.

One of the surest way to buy yourself some grief is to threaten death to the President of the USA or other Federal officials.

And its almost suicidal to pull a gun out, threaten death to the President, when the Prez is in the immediate vicinity.

Even if you shoot your mouth off in public or even more stupidly put it in writing, you are going to be investigated by the secret service.
All kinds of taxpayer funded man hours are wasted investigating harmless nuts, but they never know who is a nut and who is a real threat. But the people charged with protecting the President are very good at what they do and can't afford to take any chances.

So not knowing the circumstances of the arrest our OP alludes to, I can well believe some people crossed a line that mandates an arrest.
And that the same standards apply to all Presidents, including GWB or Obama.

One of them yells "Gun!", 3 guys jump on obama and yank him off the stage and the guys on the perimeter open fire, depending on who's got a clear shot. SS officers do pack concealed uzis, depending on the occasion.

So my dear left wingers here on P&L answer me this.

Why is it ok to hold up signs saying Death to Bush at protests yet holding up a sign that says Death to Obama gets you arrested? Can anyone show me were a Death to Bush signholder was arrested, much less detained?

For additional reference here you go:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/200...health_care_obama_sign
http://www.zombietime.com/zomblog/?p=621

Come on Craig and Moonbeam, I know your itching to reply.

Really, you want to talk about signs when some deeply stupid people bring FUCKING AUTOMATIC RIFLES to a gathering. You're being pissy about a sign, seriously grow a fucking brain.
People were arrested for wearing t-shirts in West Virginia protesting dumbya. A t-shirt, now people are showing up with handguns, rifles. And you have the stupidity to piss and moan about this.
Honestly, I don't care who the president is, you do NOT show up to see him carrying a weapon. It's basic common sense. He knows the 2nd amendment. I bet he's studied it once or twice.
You do NOT need to carry your phallic substitution to prove the amendment is still valid and working. Fucking idiots.
Oh yea, if you want a link to the anti-bush t-shirt arrests, do what I did. Use google.

Source? Methinks you have no idea what the definition of assault rifle vs rifle vs automatic (SEF) rifle are....

But more to the core of the issue, why and how do you make a connection between a gun and a death threat towards a president? You cannot enter the actual hall regardless, as it is deemed a federal building.

REALLY?!!?? A source? Here's your source. Go fuck yourself with an old broom.
And who gives a shit whether I know the difference in gun types. It was a rifle, you gun assholes can fill in the details.
Yea, I could see how a connection between and gun and death to the president is fuzzy, blurry or outright silly. Did you eat lead paint chips as a child?
Secondly, because the op made a reference to people being arrested for carrying a sign. I expediently replied about the west virginia couple who were arrested for wearing anti-bush t-shirts to a 4th of july activity.
again, use google, I don't care if you don't believe it. There is enough coverage of it to silence mental midgets like you.

LOL, what a good funny in the morning, another member of the looney left that shits themselves when they see even a picture of a firearm.

Again, guns are not a right vs. left issue. People who continue to try and paint it as such are fucking retards.

Not knowing your posting history, I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. I really hope you are because I think we've established pretty well across these forums that the concept of death panels are fabrications by conservatives.

Can you show me any pics/stories about a person holding up a sign from 00-08 that said "Death to Bush" on it and show that the SS didn't investigate? Otherwise your question is missing the evidence for your assumption that it was OK to hold up such signs. I'm aware of plenty of such signs being displayed, but how do you know they weren't investigated?

I don't even want to dignify any of the responses I got from john with any sort of calm, rational answer. You don't yell fire in a theater, you don't bring a gun around the president. Also, don't lick your fingers and stick them in a light socket... um.. don't step on the 3rd rail.. these seem like common sense things. As I said, I am pretty sure the president (almost any president) is aware of the 2nd amendment, no need to bring any gun to prove it. FFS... really, grow a brain.

Also you don't tug on Superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask of the old Lone Ranger and you don't mess around with Jim....

But yes, second amendment or not, any fool knows what guns purpose is. Guns purpose is to kill. Assault rifles and hand guns have the purpose of killing people. Bringing an assault rifle to a rally where the President is at is just stupid. There's a reason people use the term "gun nuts". It's because the people who think that their right to shoot other human beings is above and beyond all other rights, are fucking nutso.
