What would you pick for your literal last meal on earth?

I narrowed my list down to two dishes - Surf n Turf with a whole steamed lobster and a rib-eye OR a perfect bowl of Tonkotsu Japanese Ramen with some Chasu and Kakuni and extra eggs to go along with all the other accoutrements.

I got stuck at those two but I think the Ramen ekes out a win.

Can I have a buffet? I want some pizza in each major style (well, maybe skip St. Louis), steak, ribs, brisket, well-stocked dessert cart, an extensive beer flight...

a WHOLE steamed lobster??
A WHOLE ONE?

Assuming that this is a fantasy world where they still let you chose your last meal, which they don't, i would go for two full-sized lobsters, a dozen alaskan king crab legs, clams, and king prawns.

Appetizers would be this octopus with squid ink and quail egg I've had at a restaurant in Grand Cayman, along with a tuna tar tar.

Main would be a ribeye medium rare with some sort of risotto.

Desert doesn't have to be anything fancy, probably just a really good piece of cake or something, or a brownie with ice cream.

Beef rib soup with bowl of steamed rice and side of kimchi would be good enough for me. Something like this.

And bottle of soju to wash it all down.

Okay, lets plan this out.

Best octopus that I've ever had is at Pri Mari in Piran Slovenia. Order it a day in advance, then when you arrive you can skip the hour long line, sit down, and this platter arrives moments later:

Best ribeye that I've ever had (by far) is at Chez Mathilde in Tadoussac, Canada. This Google image just doesn't do it justice. I'm pretty sure it feeds 3 to 4 hungry men.

Best simple desert is a tough one though. I think by a narrow margin it is this corn husk meringue at Cosme New York, NY:

For my death row meal, I'll probably not go with my favorite foods. I'll go with foods that separate my mind from my body.

1) Fugu from Japan. I've only had it once, but it really gave me a floating tingling sensation. Great with a nice citrus sauce.
2) True Szechwan from China. More mouth tingling.
3) Raw beef Key Wat from Ethiopia, made extra spicy just enough to think you've detached your head from your body, offset with extra-sour injera bread.
4) Each course served with high-end cocktails and a stout at the end thick enough to confuse with used motor oil.

I want to go out with a bang.

This is the octopus dish I was talking about. It was so good.

And I was almost going to put this in there too but this was an entree vs tuna tar tar which is more of an app.

Both from the same restaurant.

Looks good. I was thrown off by your squid ink mention. I'm glad to see that it is only a decoration. Squid ink to me just doesn't have a great flavor. I'd quite enjoy that version that you had since the ink is minimal and decorative.

If we are talking octopus I'll cook my own!

Then I get to cook and eat which is a bonus!
How do you tenderize your octopus? I've been told that the best way is to slap it on a granite rock 100 times. But, I've never actually done that myself.

That said, some of those octopus dishes look amazing, as does Ponyo's Beef Rib soup!

I've heard that but I'm not so sure it's that effective. Never tried it myself. I've been told pressure cooker is the best. It cooks the octopus fast and tenderizes it at the same time. You could also sous vide it, and I bet it will come out tender once you find the sweet spot for temp and time.

I steam and slice the cooked octopus really thin so it's not too tough/chewy. But I also like little bite and don't mind if it's little chewy. Small octopus, I slice and eat raw so it's not too bad.

I enjoyed the taste of it. It definitely had a distinct taste. Like when cutting a piece off, mixing it with the quail egg yolk and ink, it was an awesome taste that definitely was very distinct. Just not something I eat very often.

Eh. No matter what, it's gonna suck. You can ask for buffalo wings, that doesn't mean they will be good. Will likely be sloppy and not cooked correctly.

I also contend that I would prefer a variety:
Chicago Style Pizza
wings in all flavors
Chicken Strips w/ bbq sauce
Chick Fil A waffle fries
Well made burger with egg and bacon.
Cheese cake factory for dessert.
BJs peanut butter s'mores Pizookie.

Of all things:
Top it off with some good German hefe beer during the meal, and a barrel aged stout to end it.

A large Quebec poutine so I can enjoy a poutine for the last time. Then I would want some extra spicy peperettes to snack on at same time. For desert I'd want a very large ice cream cake of sorts, but anything super heavy in dairy will do. To drink I would want an extra large coffee brewed with an entire can of Maxwell house Dark Roast.

I'm not going to make their life easy after I'm dead, when my bowels decide to evacuate themselves it will happen fast and it won't be pretty!

I'd request a meal they couldn't deliver until they got some rare ingredients, preferably including something that wouldn't be attainable for months, if not years. :colbert:

My father served in Burma during WWII, a captain in the US Army. The Allied forces there included the Chinese. It came to pass that the high ranking Chinese officers threw a banquet for Allied officers. My father raved about the incredible magnificence of it. After the war, my family's favorite dine-out experiences were in Chinese restaurants.
