A lot of the expenses come from what could be termed as maintenance drugs. This is an area where we should try to reign in some savings. Drugs when properly used can extend people's usefulness to society another 30 or 40 years. Then a lot of the other expenses are useless tests that we probably dont really need. A lot of money is wasted on useless Stress Tests.

So the point here has nothing to do with preserving life. That isn't important. The only thing that matters is that "government" not be involved. If people die from lack of healthcare, that is fine and dandy, so long as government has nothing to do with either trying to save them or hastening their demise. Gotcha.

pretty much

further, these useless, redundant tests are generally performed for liability reasons. It doesn't amtter that the physician deems them unnecessary for their diagnosis, or potentially damaging to the patient, the insurance provider demands them to head off potential lawsuits.

the two major problems with medicine:
--insurance companies
--lawsuits

private, corporate fucksticks getting involved. It works swimmingly well in the UK, Japan, Canada. any BS propaganda from inbred political hacks telling you otherwise is an outright lie. They of course they know they are lying, but the swine rely on the ignorant mouth-breathers that elected them to swallow these lies and keep electing them, b/c all they care about is: government--BAD!
