I'm listening to Vader's "De Profundis" CD.

There are a few other death fans around AT too. Can't remember any names right now, but they're here.

I don't use any IM stuff. Just e-mail them to me.

I've still got 2 of my old demo tapes from like '90 or '91. They're on cassette though. Our stuff was along the lines of Napalm Death's Harmony Corruption. Mostly death metal style, but with some grindcore influence.

kinda ... death metal just has lower growls ... sick lyrics ... and faster more complex riffs ... yet annihilator and nevermore have some technical sh*t. Well what do you like now if you dont listen to death metal?

metal doesnt necessarily have to have any growls at all... and i disagree, death metal has much faster, LESS COMPLEX riffs... as opposed to metal, which in general has more complicated leads, and more melodic riffs... just my opinion though

I'd argue that Opeth doesn't belong in that group...maybe not DT either.

Yngwie??? Is that guy still around?

Some bands like Cannibal Corpse, are very straight forward and their riffs aren't that complex. However, a band like Nile or Cyptopsy, would send a first year guitar student crying to his mommy.

Cannibal corpse and krisiun are damned complicated ... lol ... but i do agree .... i said death metal has low growls or high screams .... metal is singing mostly.

I left the band scene in about '93. I got tired of lugging around my drum kit for virtually no pay (after expenses). I had graduated college, got a good job, and knew I wasn't going to be a musician for a living. I still like to play, but I do it alone. Uh....that didn't come out right.

I saw them on the Blessed are the Sick tour at Joe's Garage in Dallas (maybe '90? '91?). Anyway, it was raining real hard. Water is dripping down onto Pete's kit. He stops between songs and wipes the water off, smiling the whole time. At the end of the show, David (remember this was before Steve) tells everyone "good night, drive safe, be careful". Seemed a huge contrast to the previous hour of singing about death and all things evil.

BTW, any word on why Steve Tucker left the band? That really sucks. I liked him a lot on Gateways.

I've been in to Death metal for quite a few years(bolt thrower, deicide, benediction, dying fetus, etc etc etc etc). I'm more of a black metal fan though(darkthrone emperor darkfuneral burzum etc etc etc). Listening to Vomitory right now

Thing I love about black metal is that there is so much of it out there its almost impossible to comprehend. It's all great too...everything from darkthrone to cradle of filth to burzum to emperor to satyricon etc etc. Love it.
