Death in the family...kind of sucks.

Only 6 years old...such a shame.

Rest in peace, little Nokia 2115i. :(

Still on its first battery even, and now the charging circuitry has evidently failed.

Time for a new POS cellphone with a nice <60min per month plan. :awe:

Incidentally, for those who might be wondering what's inside a Nokia Type ACP-7U power supply (not really a charger), it's just a simple transformer hooked to 4 1N4001 diodes in a bridge configuration, with a PTC B1585 inrush limiter.

It would work better if we had subtitles; the mouseover pretty much explains it though.
A mouseover of the thread tag icon would also lend clues.

Also, I find this thread to be rather refreshingly minty.
I find it distinctly earthy, with mild currant overtones and a hint of citrus.

If it gets double minutes, it's ok. Otherwise I think AT&T Go phones are cheaper per/min.

I actually spoke with someone one time that not only pays a monthly fee that includes no minutes, but the minutes were something absurd like $1/min. They didn't want to change because they had the plan so long they were afraid of changing.

That was a great phone. It has a flashlight! If I could have any feature in a phone, I'd take a flashlight over anything. I still have the phone, but I stopped using Virgin Mobile. I use a cell as my only phone, and Virgin's rates were a little high. I'm on Net10 now, but my favorite phone is still that old Nokia :^)

You're a jerk, especially with the recent threads about people losing their mother and brother.
No disrespect is meant; and in any case, someone's dying somewhere at just about any moment, yet jokes about death are not at all difficult to find.

It's always fun when people are showing off the cool stuff their new phones can do.

"Yeah, well mine has a flashlight!"

Then someone busts out their new Droid with a 90 lumen LED. :D

Now that I've got a phone number through Skype, just about the only thing this phone would be used for is calling AAA or 911.

(And I deliberately got a Skype number that ends with 666. I'm rather fond of it.:))

I currently use a Nokia 1100 because I started a job in 2008 that forbids all camera phones in the premises. The N95 just sat home and I've been using the 1100 since Summer 2008.

It bloody sucks that no one makes a decent phone without a camera anymore. I tried real hard to find a Nokia E51 (non-camera edition) but no luck. Do people really refuse to buy non-camera phones these days?

Oh well, at least the 1100 (also) has a flashlight.

you sure it's dead? my mom has one and it's 'died' ~5x. i've resurrected it with various combinations of power on/off button + battery out + battery in + charger in + charger out.

If it makes you feel any better, my fiancee and I both laughed and said "Nice.".

Yes, it seems to no longer function.

Battery in, out, charger in, out, main circuitboard in, out, contacts cleaned, and I've made sure that the circuitboard is receiving power from the adapter. From there, the traces which carry the power to the charging circuitry, wherever that is, are on the inner layers, so I can't really trace them out or troubleshoot them. It's a very highly integrated multilayer board.

And I doubt there's a key combination that will enable or disable the charging circuitry. It may well have been a small power spike that finally killed something.
