I know nothing about these guys, just something a guy forwarded me who usually isn't into softer music like this. I'm not too hip on the music.......(a little redundant, imho)......but I thought the video was kinda' cool for somebody I'd never heard of before.

???

Edited: It's simply........"Death Cab For Cutie"..........(not "a" cutie).

godamn it..

it's not working in IE either. friggin...

what is an emu band?
and if u mean 'emo', there are more than one 'emo' band.... lol its a categorization, not a genre.. more like generalizing multiple genres into one category

sigh
and they are just slow rock. many bands have existed in this corner of music for far longer than 'emo' has existed.

and yes, that are a good band, the rest of the cd is sweet too
on a somewhat related note, check out The Spill Canvas.. a little more uptempo, but also a great band

i didnt click on the link, but if its their song "soul meets body" it is an ok song, but not one of their best by far.
I don't consider then emo at all.
The lead singer is a bit older, late late 20's.

Best song on that album (Plans) is I Will Follow You Into the Dark

For me I would say:

1. Someday you will be loved
2. Crooked Teeth
3. I Will Follow You Into the Dark

i really liked a few of their songs, the lead singer has got a very distinctive voice

The voice kind of reminds me of an '80s band called I Start Counting.

Unfortunately, the song Soul Meets Body is now on our local pop stations (Alice 97.3, Mix 106.5), and will shortly be overplayed to all hell.

yes, postal service was his side project.

Yup... once a great song makes it onto the trendy list, it's been killed. I really enjoy Death Cab's music. I even have a song of theirs on my MySpace profile. It's excellent background music for most anything as well.

Get their last two albums and the Postal Service. I'm not as big a fan as their earlier stuff. If you can only get one, get Transatlanticism. It was one of the best albums of 2003.

I've listened to all 8 of their albums and EP's

One of my favourite bands; and they're turning into one of my other all time favourite bands: Jimmy Eat World.

JEW got tons of play a few years ago with Bleed American (changed to "Jimmy Eat World" after 9/11) and for a summer I couldn't go a day without hearing "The Middle" somewhere.
Death Cab's Plans brings them into the mainstream now, so I can't really fault them for their success - happy that Ben Gibbard is now getting recognized and rewarded for his talent.

Anyways, check out Transatlanticism as someone else suggested. The trio of "Tiny Vessels-Transatlanticism-Passenger Seat" is simply the best track to track progession i've seen on an album. The Photo Album is my favourite though, Styrofoam Plates and 20th Century Towers would be my picks for best off that one.

The Postal Service was Ben Gibbard's side project with DNTEL; just a little collaboration and nothing really serious (for now)

A friend introduced me to this band. I kinda scrunched my face when he mentioned the name(expected speed Metal or something 😀), but after listening to the album Plans I was hooked. Their lyrics aren't fantastic, but there's just something "real" about them that evokes memories from my youth. Nice soft music with an emotional spiritual edge.
