U.S. factory worker dies after being submerged in chocolate vat
at 8:47 on July 24, 2002, EST.

HATFIELD, Pa. (AP) - A candy factory worker died after being submerged in a 4,542-litre vat of liquefied chocolate, police said. Yoni Cordon, 19, of Philadelphia, was discovered in the vat by co-workers at the Kargher Corp. on Tuesday, authorities said.

Police said they believe Cordon had been working on a platform near the opening of the vat, which is used for mixing and melting chocolate.

Nobody saw Cordon fall and it was unknown how long he was submerged before he was found, Hatfield Township police detective Patrick M. Hanrahan said.

Hanrahan said foul play was not suspected and the death was being investigated as an accident.

If you've got to go, go with a smile.

This is tragic but I can think of worse ways to leave this world.

It's horrible that someone died, but I want to know what they're doing with all that chocolate! Could you imagine eating the chocalate that someone died in? I hope it doesn't get used in production...

I read about this earlier and was thinking about how drowning is actually a pretty painful way to die.

His last dying words were "Eat me!!"

Good thing they found him, or someone might have.

A local girl drowned in salsa a couple of years ago. I still shiver when I think of that.

Imagine for a moment Jalepeno juice penetrating every oriface and sensative tissue on your body. I would imagine it's about like being dipped in liquid fire. Imagine inhaling a large amount of salsa into your lungs.

I place that up there with ways I do NOT want to die.

Yeah... That sounds cool. But I don't think I'd die b/c of that. If it was an eclosed vat, I'd not fall in there, right? If it's open, I'm a pretty good swim (at least there's no way I'll ever drown). Anyway, it'd of been a nice swim!

It'd be like trying to swim in mud. I don't think it would be possible.

Actually, it's pretty painless...and I'm speaking from experience.

The horrible part of drowning is the few moments before your body refuses to go without oxygen anymore and you automatically open your mouth and inhale rapidly...once you do that, it's lights out.

The sound of inhalation and the water rushing into my lungs is one I won't ever forget...but it didn't hurt at all.

The panic is another story -- it's terrifying in ways I can't even begin to describe.

Fortunately, I've only experienced the before and during of drowning...I was pulled from the water after losing consciousness by the same man who had held me under the water as a child - ironic, isn't it?

I would bet you don't have time to enjoy it as your body wrak with pain as it try to get some oxygen.
