Dear White People, what method is acceptable to you for us black people to protest racial injustice?

Unfortunately for all of us historically violence is has been the only answer that ever works. No one cares about peaceful protests that follows all the rules. Protests only work when they cause disruption. People only pay attention to protests when they disrupt society enough to force them to pay attention. You, and many others, think protests shouldn't be inconvenient. Well, that is not going to work.
The truth is that change requires a lot of work, and no one is going to do the work until it is more of a pain not to.
You have a point. Seems meaningful change only happens after violence. The LAPD abused black people for years. That only changed after the Rodney King riots.

During the civil rights movement, do you know when the tide turned? When the images of police attacking black people with dogs and fire hoses went around the world.

I fully support the protests, but holy shit this is a rough time for hundreds of thousands of people to be crammed together, mask or no. I fully expect the orange one to blame the second wave of COVID entirely on the protesters, despite the protests coinciding with the reopening of the economy.

I still remember watching Selma and how MLK realized that non-violent protest only really got people's attention when they could see the police violence. Like preparing for a boxing match that you were always going to throw.

I don't care what blacks do to protest. I will defend my property and family though. Stay out of my hood. Keep burning down your neighborhood if you like. I won't be there to clean up the mess. I hope the businesses leave and leave it to rot.

Sure thing, I'll just start a post titled "Dear Black People, why do you find looting to help further your cause?" BUT THEN, in the post, I'll qualify that with black criminals.

You'd be ok with that, right?
Why has nobody talked about the white man dressed in black that started the property destruction at the Autozone, to kick off the "rioting"?

I find it fascinating how you're not only more concerned about property than police murdering people in cold blood, but genuinely want the entire black community to suffer further because a handful of the protesters are rioting.

This is emblematic of both the selfish "fuck you, got mine" mindset and passive-aggressive racism.

I feel the same way about bigots. You want to build a wall around your property to keep “those” people out, have at it. But don’t send jackbooted thugs into my neighborhood to build walls, lock children in cages, and harass people just because you’re afraid of people who don’t look like you.
