Dear Star Wars Episode II, may I please have my 2 hours back?

Wow.. how.. unexciting.

A friend brought the movie by my house tonight for an excited viewing and here are the reactions of the people watching it.

Mom fell asleep, friend read Sports Illustrated, dad studied networking books, I wandered away, found food, and read econ notes for a final.

Now don't think we are not Star Wars fans. My dad is a big one and I loved the first 3 that were made. This movie was just, well, boring. Nothing happened for about the first 2 hours, then there was some fighting for a bit, then the movie ended. The effects were indeed pretty, but they dont make up for the lack of anything going on for a long time. I think this movie will do good only because Star Wars fans will feel obliged to go see it over and over.

For the most part it was a big boring love story, not something you really want out of a Star Wars flick.

Oh well. Lets hope they can redeem themselves with episode III.

replace "III" with "II" .. and you get everyone's reaction to "I"

It's not the quality of the rip that concerned me. It was 2 VCDs long and really wasn't that bad.

What I didn't like was the movie itself. I stand by the fact that even if a movie looks bad, it can still be fun to watch. The movie itself was boring. Nothing happened. If I need to see it in the theater to enjoy it, then the only thing this movie has going for it is it's pretty graphics, and that does not make a good movie.

From the fight scenes I see in trailers to the clones as well, NONE of which you mentioned, I will ignore you.

Uh oh, sounds like all the Star Wars fans are shutting out the bad opinions. Quality of picture doesnt really make a difference if the movie is good or not. Doesnt really surprise me actually

I don't care for Star Wars at all. In fact, I've yet to see Episode One.
But there's something to say about the immersiveness about a 340x280 res screener on a small television, as compared to a theatre screen. I still say, a movie will instatly be improved by seeing it on the big screen.

Every fight scene happened in the last bit of the movie! By that point you don't even care anymore about whats going on.

When I think Star Wars I think exciting movies, not long drawn out sappy stories. It's like Pearl Harbor. It's boring until the action happens and hour and a half into the movie.

Eh.. I don't think I can win until next Thursday when the movie comes out and everyone sees for themselves

Maybe, but nothing will improve the crappy dialogue.

Yeah I've been hearing EPII follows the same pattern as EPI...lotsa crap...then a few fight scenes...then a little bit o' crap...then credits...
Hey, maybe the soundtrack will be good...maybe...

denial, eh??😉

I PM'ed him about a scene that isn't in the trailers, so we'll see.

I'm glad to hear this....another nail in the coffin of nerds. So sad.

That's 2 in a row, for those who are counting.

I still haven't even seen Episode I yet. I've had it on divx but I never took the time to watch it.

They had episode 1 on TV the other night on FOX. They also showed the whole Star Warts series starting with a New Hope. So for the last 4 weeks I've been watching the Star Warts saga on TV. A good way to promote ep2 because it makes you wonder how whats his face....Anakin became a big baddie. (I just have to say that Jake Loyd's acting along with Jar Jar ruined the movie. Only redeeming value was cute Padme 🙂) I'm also curious on how Vader became cybernetic. Probably the L.A. smog got to his lungs, thats why he needs a machine to help him breath. I also wonder how Senator Palpatine became emperor and who darth sidous really is. Is Darth Sidous really Senator Palpatine? I think Sidous is Palpatine. Anyways I think watching ep2 will be much better in the theaters due to the much better sound system as well as larger screen.

edit: spelling

I find it funny that the first 2 people to flame him didn't even take 5 seconds to read the
sources of his criticism of the movie. He didn't like the plot, dialogue or acting... well it
must be due to the crappy VCD quality!!!

What exactly is a screener? I realize he downloaded the movie off the net somewhere but where do non realesed downloadable movies like this come from and what is a screener?

I think Lucas lost it quite awhile ago.

I'll catch Ep.II on DVD . . . the story is so boring . . . of course, the special effects will be . . . well, special. And Ep. III looks far worse from the projected dark storyline.

EDIT: The movie is being shown now at special screenings (to critics, celebrities, etc. to generate a "buzz"). Someone usually tapes the movie with a DVC inside the theater (the best ones are set up on a tripod with "permission" from the theater management but still very illegal . . however, big bucks are made this way. Sometimes the film is copied in the projection booth with a special lens and equipment. . . I am not too sure about this one since it is digital format . . . probably a DVC filming the screen).

Yeah, I lmao'ed at RedRooster for that comment. LOL, higher resolution and bigger screen really does improve plot, dialogue and acting, doesn't it 😀
