The article says it puts the other students at risk, all of which are old enough to be vaccinated.

they should be more worried about the infants they end up around.(though you obv didnt read the article :p...herd immunity)

I have a friend who refuses to vaccinate, and its going to rough to tell him his daughter(who will be 2) cant be around my newborn

there have been issues with whooping cough in the last few years local to me, I dont need that shit around my kid. and of course said friends other weirdo baby friends are in the same hippie boat

I would love to check out the "dirty" mexican water they serve in mexico. Suppossedly anyone from not in that area gets sick from drinking it because of it being so bad for you.

That is usually less to do with water quality and more to do with you not being immune to the local microbes in the water supply. It happens if you go anywhere that doesn't have strict water quality controls.

If you haven't had one yet, you should get a pertussis vaccine booster, since it wears off after around 10 years and the most common way of transmitting whooping cough to children is from unvaccinated adults.

Not at all-

There has been an upswing among liberal households due to fearmongering about vaccinations & autism.

Trust me:

Research demonstrates liberals score much higher than conservatives on a measure called “openness to experience." They tend to be people who are willing to test the status quo and experiment with new ideas, books, music and food. However, liberals can be very irrational. For example, liberal irrationality has led to the false assumption that vaccines somehow cause autism even though scientists, who tend to be liberal, have dismissed such fears with empirical evidence. But for some liberals, the desire to attack the big corporations which manufacture vaccines outweighs the scientific evidence.

No, I read it. They basically said the kids who are immunized (other classmates) are put at risk by the non-immunized kids but failed to actually explain why. Good thing we have this forum for someone here explained it for them.

I am not anti-immunization...I think they are an important part of saving our species.

Next time you get a tetanus vaccination, they now have the option to get it with a pertussis booster. With a fairly large Amish population in this area, and being a school teacher in contact with whatever it is that the kids are carrying, it's risky enough for me that I said, "hell yeah!" at the opportunity to get the booster.

Now, I have to try to remember that it was 2012 when I got my latest tetanus shot. I seem to end up getting one about every 3 or 4 years.

How do unvaccinated kids who get sick pass on their germs to vaccinated kids who are supposed to be resistant to the disease?

I was told it was because vaccines don't always work - so they think they are immune but are not.

Did you guys read the article? It's like the third paragraph. Some people can't get vaccinations due to allergies or compromised immune systems. Those people depend on others being vaccinated. If your unvaccinated child gets sick, they can communicate the disease to those who wanted to vaccinate but were unable.

He was looking for an explanation as to why already vaccinated children would have to worry about unvaccinated children.

Obviously, there is also a subset of the population that cannot get vaccinated because of certain medical conditions, and they rely on herd immunity.
