You must ask yourself one very important question. How will Americans see me after the election? Its highly probable you will lose the election. Do you have anything else to lose?
This is the time for you to rise up to the challenge. Don't sully your reputation by the tactic of the smear. It clearly hasn't worked for you. It will, however, define you. Rise up and make this debate one that is about issues. Americans will remember you for it. You will aid the country in its time of need. It will be your legacy.
You can go down slinging mud, or slinging ideas.
If you choose ideas you will go down as a patriot, which is what your legacy should be. Not a mud slinger who will be seen as someone willing to do anything to win, regardless of the consequences to the country.
