Dear Holiday Retailers...

SunnyD

Belgian Waffler
I would like to point out that this year's Black "Friday" sales as well as this year's Cyber Monday sales absolutely fucking suck as a whole.

If you want to drive more traffic to your stores and actually get people to part with their hard earned welfare checks cash, you may want to consider actually putting decent shit on sale, rather than jacking up prices then claiming some huge doorbuster discounts on those very items that were essentially the same price the day previous.

Or better yet, perhaps put stuff on sale that people actually want, even if it's not a super-terrific doorbuster price, but an actual meaningful discount off it's daily price.

Sincerely;

Me.

Not a thing worth buying this year, except Best Buy's 42" TV deal - and there were only 6-10 of those per store.

Sales were up considerably this year, with Best Buy arguably having the best results.

Sorry, but the public and retailers don't agree with you.

what were you looking for? there were some solid deals out there. some tvs, video games, kitchen gear, clothing.

Solid deals != Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals.

Pretty much the only worthwhile deal was the BestBuy 42" tv, as previously mentioned. Other than that, I haven't seen anything that couldn't be had during any other "common" sale week.

The only thing I would have bought maybe on Black Friday was the Best Buy Asus Transformer at $250. I'd be damned if I was going to stand in line outside the night before for it though, especially when I am leaning towards just waiting to get the Transformer Prime instead when it comes out.

Sorry things weren't 95% off... from the looks of it the stores did plenty of business even with their 'crappy' deals. They were absolutely packed when I was in there. Plenty of good TV deals... like that 60 inch LCD for 800. 50 inch 1080p plasmas for 500.

I guess there weren't many "I don't even need that buy I NEED to buy it anyway" deals. Can't blame the retailers though, it's the fault of stupid consumers who buy anything that is offered to them

This is true.

I did far better ~2 weeks ago when Amazon had nearly all of the lego sets my kids wanted for xmas on lightning deals. Averaged about 35% off retail. Sales like that are worthwhile.

agreed, i was EXTREMELY disappointed in cyber monday. I thought they'd be better given the lackluster black friday deals but NO, yet another disappoint.

amazon lightning deals were really bad. i was hoping for like $200 off TV's and the one I was looking at was like $75 off. hardly enough off to make me jump on it. i'm just going to continue to wait because I don't NEED a tv now but I simply want a new one.

Picked up some good Steam deals. Got a Kinect with a few games for $99, some good $5 and $10 PS3 and Wii games, a couple of older Bluray movies for $5, and picked up the extended Bluray of Lord of the Rings for $50 off of Amazon. Didn't do too bad Online, but I agree there was nothing in the B&M stores worth waiting in the cold for.

the airbrush i missed out on was a lightning deal. thing was NICE. 🙁

I got Uncharted 3 for $30 from Best Buy. And, that's it. Everything else was online.

B&M stores in general suck total ass. They rarely have any stock, are crowded and provide a shitty over all experience.

I think we can save the US postal system by removing all B&M stores and just ship everything to everyone. We can hire the newly fired B&M sales clerks as postal service workers.

How about we look at yearly sales totals before we go parading around about our newfound wealth in this depressed economy.

I think it's because we already have too much crap. It's like going to a buffet right after eating. You're already full.

Speaking of food, this and this caught my eye. I really want to try the ham.

"Record" Black Friday sales, or better than expected, so somewhere out there, someone was happy.

For me, I've realized that if I don't want a TV, I may as well sit Boxing Day/Black Friday/Cyber Monday out.
