Dear God that thing was nasty...

MaxDSP

Lifer
I think it was a house centipede. This thing was as long as my middle finger. My sister saw it chilling behind the crapper and made me get a broom to kill it. Nastiest thing is that after I smashed it and put the body into the toilet and flushed it, the legs that had borken off were still moving back and forth. I didnt know these things did that too. Reminded me of the scene in "The Rock"

Im gonna have nightmares

I hate bugs. I got bit my a small centipede one time; my hand swelled up, I threw up and passed out. That's all I remember. Oh...I do remember my arm feeling like it was on fire. Bugs are evil. Like children.

I think I need a drink or two to calm down...😀

and cats!

I got bit by a tick once when my family was in northern Michigan on vacation. It was horrible - I got the bullseye rash on my forearm where the bite was, and my arm swelled to about twice its normal size. Luckily my dad's an M.D. so he prescribed antibiotics for me at the local pharmacy.

The worst part was the itching - ANYTHING touching the arm would make it itch. Taking a shower was the absolute worst - itching like CRAZY.

I'm sure that somehow insects are a valuable part of the food chain/ecosystem/blah/blah but to me they are useless. Bugs. Bugs. Ahhhh! Bugs suck!

those centipedes really freak me, they're often huge and super quick.

they have powerful jaws too, used for chomping spiders.

believe me when I say this thing was H-U-G-E. The good part was that it only took 1 hit with the broom to take it out of commission...😀

Altho, it's the image of the severed but moving legs that was the freaky part

Lirion is one of the most talented people I've ever met. Er...seen....er...seen thier work. You KNOW what I mean. 😱

You could have $15K worth of Digital Camera Stuffs; if you don't know what the hell you're doing, a 16mb webcam will take better -pix. The man is talented.

bwahaha, that had to suck. You should've just taken a lighter to the sumbitch to teach it a lesson. Of course, you would've lost your nutsack in the process...

There are several different types of centipedes. The one you saw is actually pretty docile. They are very fast but mostly harmless to humans. The thick ones with the short legs (usually reddish in colour) are the ones to be carefull of. They are the ones with the nasty jaws and venom.

The twitchy legs you saw is normal among these types of invertabrates. Once severed from the body the nerves are still being stimulated. Freaky but normal.

You think that's bad?

I got stung by a hornet (yellow jacket) in the same place when one of those buggers snuck into my underwear. The pain was indescribable and the swelling was horrible. It finally subsided after 2 hours of agony.

So top that. (i had 2 witnesses and one saw the hornet fall to the floor crawling around trying to fly)

what guys need is a mini electrical-force-field surrounding the genital area...of course, youd have to remember to run it off on some "occasions" 😀

A few years ago I woke up one morning and felt something crawling on me... it was a 3 inch long centipede. Smashed it pretty hard, but not hard enough to kill it - found it crawling on the bathroom floor a couple hours later. It's now in a watery grave...

Those things are &od d@mn 3vil spawn of hell itself. I suggest more b33r to get over the trauma.
