How long have you been waiting to dish that little nugget out? Sorry, gimmicks only work 1 way.

Perhaps if you got Skoorb in here to garner some support, you might feel better.

One of the beautiful things about this country is something called "freedom of speech", and the freedom from intimidation or recrimination because of exercising that right.

I respect my flag and the veterans of my country as much, probably more than most people do, but I don't think that just because you have veteran status, you automatically gain respect or some hallowed status. Many men are drafted and dragged kicking and screaming into the service. Others (like my dad and my grandad) volunteered. I respect them far more than some of the draftees I have heard of. Not only that, veterans are human - they are not perfect, and many that I have met possess attitudes or have committed actions that I find deplorable, and therefore I do not respect them for that.

Our flag is beautiful, but it is not who we are. It is merely a symbol, nothing more, nothing less. If some choose to take out their anger on it or make a statement out of burning it, so be it. That is their right as an American. It is unfortunate. I would protect them from physical harm the same as I would any other.

That some of you get caught up in this jingoistic ferver frightens me.

The irony in this post is simply amazing. I will not go into what makes letters/opinions like this piss me off so much for fear the idiotic gung-ho American lovers will flame me for no reason.

-silver

hmmm...i think you meant "will flame me with a reason"

No, I didn't. I guess people interpreted 'idiotic gung-ho American' as simply patriotic. I mean it in the sense of extreme patriotism and all of the ignorance that goes along with that title (read: people who think that you need to risk your life for your country to prove your allegiance).

-silver

so by people who risk their life for their country (read:soldiers) are idiotic gung-ho Americans?
all i have to say is FVCK YOU. i have a brother and a few friends that are in service and, like i've said before, i am proud as hell of them.

btw-you brought this flame on yourself

Oh, man, I think you need to brush up on your comprehension skills. He was referring to the extreme jingoistic idiots who take the slightest disagreement with their country as a personal insult and an invitation for physical abuse. I'm sure he's proud of your brother and your friends as well, as most people are of our veterans.

Wow. Do you actually read before you post?

p.s. coming from you, it's not a flame. Typically, the poster has to comprehend my post to form a coherent argument/flame against it. Try, try again.

Unless you are a service member or vet, you have not earned the right to use them.
Could get your ass kicked.

He forgot "Bubblehead", a nickname for the submariner.

Schedule yourself for an ass whippin'.

IIRC, Roger is perfectly allowed to use them under the bolded conditions. 😛

Thank you. That was the most well thought out post in the thread and I was hoping someone would say this.

What's wrong with #5?

If everyone assumed that everyone in the Air Force is a pilot, then they wouldn't need to ask that question.

They are asking the question to find out if that person is a pilot.

I think that one is like being black, and everybody asking you if you know Eddie Murphy or Bill Cosby....

I get their point.... 🙂
