from wiki:

Kamen has also invented a compressed-air-powered device which would launch a human into the air in order to quickly launch SWAT teams or other emergency workers to the roofs of tall, inaccessible buildings.

WIN!

Looks cool. If it can be had for low cost and is easy to maintain / repair, that might be quite the invention.

This would have to be the greatest invention of the century if it actually works. Clean water is so damn scarce. Of course, this also means more humans on the planet and longer life spans, but damn. The benefit this would provide to colonization of other planets/space travel... I hope this doesnt turn out to be another segway.

I wonder how much power it actually takes? For example, would it be practical to add a bicycle or some other human-powered power source?

its not really an invention as there are hundreds of similar designs used academically and commercially in various sizes to produce distilled water. this device seems smaller than such devices, but that just means it has a smaller capacity to churn out distilled water. but aside from that, you do realize that distilled water is not entirely safe to drink. lack of minerals in the water can lead to diarrhea and other gastrointestinal issues.

What the hell, I can't post just the word "twogirlsonecup"? Why is the word banned?
Overuse of it; people got tired of hearing it, just like being Rickrolled.

But damn, if this could actually work, and could be distributed to poor nations in need of clean water, this could be simply an incredible lifesaver.

Or even a small solar panel.

drinking distilled water has no ill effects, however you miss out on the minerals (and fluoride) in normal tap water, and need to make up the mineral content elsewhere in your diet.

Everything is bad for you, don't you get it yet?

And about 94% of things can give you cancer or harm a fetus.

now to invent an add-on that can be compared to dropping solid tablets that contain the various minerals that should be present? Like a re-up device that goes in between the unit and the output hose?

or is that not enough to make distilled water a safe to drink product? I don't really know the hazards of distilled water other than the lacking of minerals and whatnot.

And I think people in 3rd world countries would gladly accept this.
"Oh my god! This is not vitamin water! It doesn't even have natural minerals in it! I refuse to drink it!"

the segway (ginger) is mostly lame, but his wheelchair (fred) is a huge benefit to people. if this water filter is going to help undeveloped areas, it will be bigger than a stove, and need quite a bit of electricity.
