It's a real simple idea CAD. The democratic party has been co-opted by slick republican merketing. Mantra like "less-governemnt" and "less taxes" and "free trade". All sound good to me even. Until we delve deeper.

You'll find most people enjoy the new deal/great society/nixon protections...from FHA loans, to SS, even some form of welfare which is why even Bush recongnises he HAD to PASS and enjoyed passing a percription drug benefit. All dean asking for is for the dems to present an case for thier ideas and return to them and not run with the cheap-labor ideas and be co-opted by big business as Clinton did and many dems do.

I was going to say that there are more Dean threads on the top than Bush threads. I love it.

Does that factoid you pulled up really impress you? Dean is the supposed "leading" candidate. He is making himself news with all the flip-flops and foot in mouth statements.

Read the article - then discuss.

Hey I would'nt coun't him out? Who'd thunk an unknown bumbling hillbilly govener from small state arkansas would have been this succesful at the same time. Never know, kerry could win at this point.

We already know how you're and CAD going to vote...it's the fractional 10% on the margins who decide.

Lee Attwater (a no1 stud..better than carville) once said: It's the people who think pro-wreslting is real who will decide.

McAuliffe needs to go. He's done nothing for the Dems and with campaign finance reform the Party Chairs are probably dispensable.

On the other hand, Dean should have ignored him and kept plodding away. You don't say publicly that you want your mean and nasty opponents to go away and if they don't then you are going to get some big bad man after them. Not Dean's finest moment. Talk about being a man...sheezh. Maybe Red is right. :)

Dean doesn't seem to buy into that yet. He went of on a tirade about how he's going to win by bringing new democrat voters to the poll. dean doesn't like the middle - he called the DLC basically Rpublicans and it's the DLC who has been trying to get democrats to understand and take over the middle. Guess dean didn't attend that meeting.

YET.
My interpretation, is now, hes shoreing up the base to win nomination, you do this by bashing the incumbant and appealing to the activist legions. Upon such time he will revert to his govener ways which you can find plenty of middle ground on every issue.

Dean can't lie well enough to compare to Clinton. He lacks the charisma thing. Dean will have his ass handed to him in the general election, and it may or may not be for any other reason than he is a raving lunatic.

To quote my favorite talking head, Dick Morris...."Dean is conclusive evidence the Lord backs George Bush".

Heh, Carville. One of my cousins worked for Carville right after he (cousin) graduated from College. Worked on Willie's re-election campaign. Now he is a lobbyist for a pharmaceutical (big drug) company. Typical.

Dean's right, this election is too important for the business/bickering as usual approach. If bush wins again, and repubs maintain majorities in both houses, they'll set out to obliterate any opposition, transform the political playing field into their own sandbox, put an end to policies that have held us through the most prosperous era in our history.

No point to winning the nomination if you're too beat up to win the election. Given another four years, the repubs will do everything possible to entrench themselves along the lines of the political/economic monopoly held by the PRI in Mexico for sixty-five years or so.... bringing the socioeconomic consequences of such power across the border, with a vengeance...

Nothing like a little fear-mongering. :p

Are you a Neo-con? People here seem to think that only neo-cons use fear as a motivational tool.

So did the President when he was a candidate, but he is the president so that doesn't really mean a lot when it comes to the election.

Sure, but what the news is about most definately can mean a lot in the election. If dean continues to make statements like he did in the title - it certainly will mean a lot. :)

If Dean can't handle the heat now, wait until he faces W. W will turn on the blast furnace, and Dean will wither away like the pathetic little pansy that he is. The Naderistas will peddle their bikes to the polls and will stuff the ballot boxes for Dean, but that is not how elections are won.

Dean will get trounced. The writing is on the wall, people.

Memo to the DNC -

You gotta pander to the middle. The only prayer in hell you have of unseating W is by reclaiming the middle with a Gephardt - Graham ticket. Kerry can't win, either. Challenge W in FL with Graham on the ticket, and make him spend buckets of money there. Use the Midwest Magic of Gephardt to take the industrial midwest.

The rest is cake. Win NY, CA, PA, IL, MO, and it is all but over.
