For international calls, the best deal I have found is on www.net2phonedirect.com
You don't need to dial through your computer, but just make sure they have a local access # for your area.
For the person above- Turkey is .29 a minute v your .33

I actually did the offer for the $50.00 Supercertificate. Unfortunately I couldn't find Amazon on Giftcertificates.com so I bought a $50.00 GC from Bigstar.com. Sure did take AT&T a long time to swith me though, almost a month.

Do most of these deals require a service commitment? If not, or if the commitment is minimal(say, a month), has anyone tried just switching back and forth, collecting on all of the deals?

Dig & wjones - To my knowledge only the QWest/Essential offer requires a minimum 6 month committment.

Usually it's safe to assume that you will be billed for one cycle which will run anywhere from $1.95 - $5.95 for monthly fees but the average "sign-up bonus" that you receive will probably be $25. So you're still going to net about $20, unless of course your local ma bell telephone company charges you up to wazoo to change long distance providers. For instance with the recent MCI Small Business for $150 Amazon GC (which I received by the way, smiling) MCI sent me a $5 check to cover possible charges for switching my LD carrier.

I used to LOVE it when AT&T would telemarket me out of the blue and offer me $100 to switch back, I'd say YES almost before they were done with their standard speel. Either they'd send me a $100 check or give me four credits of $25. Why can't I get AT&T to telemarket me anymore?

Just like why can't I get on Best Buy's preferred customer mailing list?

I would love it if I could call AT&T and act kind of hesitant, just waiting for them to dangle $100 in front of me.

Who knows, it may work. Hmmn, I may try this out this weekend. If I do I'll post my results here.

RossMAN, you've tried talk.com before, right? If you did, or if anyone else did, is it any good?

Dig - Nope, sorry I've never tried talk.com

Are any of you like me when it comes to long distance?

I could care less who my long distance provider, I only sign up because of the promo offers. That's it.
I always use BigZoo.com for all my long distance 3.6 cents per minute with no monthly fees or taxes is to good to resist.
So I could go on a merry go round from AT&T to MCI to Sprint to QWest/Essential, and back around.

It's a big hassle in the end, is it worth it? For me, it is. Free is a very good price.

Same here. I don't really care about my long distance provide. I'll switch to whatever company just for the promotion prize :)
I make a lot of international calls so here is what I use:

BigZoo.com for US long distance (Rossman, there is 75¢ monthly fee for Bigzoo.com)
Superphone.com for International call (cheaper rate than bigzoo.com for international call)
