Telescope.com has a great Thanksgiving sale on Orion scopes running now until Nov. 28th. Save up to $260 on quality telescopes. Just picked up a new 6" reflector and saved myself $100. No rebates involved.

Nice find. Too bad they don't have many Cassegrains on there, would love to get a semi-portable autofinder.

MAN! i wish i knew what I was looking for.

Are the ones for 160 worth buying? For someone who's just starting to get into this stuff?

Please help me buy a christmas gift, thanks.

Yeah, fornax (you must be an astronomy buff with that nick), that was the other one I was looking at... touch choice but decided on the SKyview Pro 6 EQ with dual drives....

kuljc, the lower priced ones are still pretty good. And a much better choice than buying a scope at a department store (don't EVER do that). This outfit gives you free astronomy software with your scope purchase, too. Check out the Learning Center on their website, lots of good info. Of the $160 choices, the Short Tube 180 is very popular with even advanced folks as it's nicely portable. the 4.5" Dobsonian is also an excellent starter scope, as is the Short Tube 4.5, which has some more advanced features.
