Ooh...didn't see that - I'll have to snag one of those as well.
BTW - do you need a USB 2.0 capable cable, device and motherboard or just cable and motherboard?

USB 2.0-rated cables are backwards-compatible. I remember when they had the 6' 99 cent "ice" cables - they rang up as being Belkin.

You know what, MicroCenter.com has the best phone customer service reps I've ever dealt with. Courtesy, friendliness, respect, patience, competency, no attitudes, that's the way it's done. :)

And best of all, they don't push extended warranties on you like the salespeople from CompUSA, Best Buy and Circuit City try to do.

$200 for 200GB WD hard drive is pretty darn sweet too.:Q

Nice finds, sure wish I had a local MicroCenter to pick one up.

Thinking about driving the 1hr15min to Dallas to get one of them too.

You get a 10 for your first rating :)

Stopped at MC on the way home today
The How to Expand & Upgrade... book is really basic, unfortunately
great buy for those of you that haven't upgraded your own PC before and are looking to start but not very useful for the rest
The MCSE one is an NT book, again not the most useful but a bargain

I ran out to my local Micro-Center to check out the XP2000+ CPU. Unfortunately, it did not have the Thoroughbred core, so I passed on it. Their processors were located behind a counter, so I didn't have access to all of them. However, I did get the salesperson to pull a few of them for me so I could take a look. All of them didn't have the Thoroughbred cores. I should have tried looking at the XP1800+ & 1900+ chips to see if they were Thoroughbreds, but I could already see a slight look of irritation in the eyes of the salesperson. Then again, it was a few minutes after 9:00 P.M. and they were trying to close the store.

For reference, the store that didn't have the Thoroughbred XP2000+ CPUs was the Fairfax, Virginia store @ Nutley St. & Rt 29.

Also, for those who are considering some of the other sales items listed in this thread, keep in mind that the sale ends on Sunday 1/12/2003.

I know nothing about it. But, at $129.99, how can you go wrong? It's a "disposable" monitor at that price. Plus, if you didn't like it, you could always get more for it from E-Bay. ;)

Is that the $65.00 rebate?? I just checked the WD site - no rebates there. Also, the Micro-Center site appears to be void of any rebates. Have you tried going back to the store?? Keep in mind that your might not get your envelope post-marked on a Sunday.

If you can't locate the rebate form anywhere, then head to your Micro-Center and have them give you a refund equal to the amount of the rebate. If they can't provide the forms, then it's time for them to turn over some cash - to you. Best of luck!! :)

Bump for the thread.

That's right!! Thumb your noses to the $18 & $20 Belkin USB cables that are sold by Staples, Office Depot, Office Max, Circuit City and Best buy. Head to your local Micro-Center and purchase the $1.99 10' USB 2.0 cables. These cables are black in color. I picked up three of them last evening at the cheap price of $1.99 - each. Even if two of them sit on my shelf, they'll be there when I need 'em - and I won't have to run out an pay $20 for a cable. :)

Don't forget, this sale is good through 1/26/2003. The cables normally sell for $6.99 - each!

I bought it with an external HD/CD-Rom case and received an additional discount to $.75!

Yeah, but you fail to point out the shipping costs. If anyone lives near a Micro-Center store, $1.99 for a 10' USB cable is a steal of a price. I'm sure the 3 cables that I picked up for $6.00 were the same price that you'd pay for shipping from Computer Geeks.

I think the $20 router/switch is a great investment! I paid $50 for my Linksys.
I might have to drive over there, even though I have a router already thats the cost of some 5 port switches alone!!!
