Negotiations to release Shakil Afridi – the hero doctor who helped the CIA pinpoint Usama Bin Laden – have gained momentum the past few weeks and he could be released as early as May, multiple sources told Fox News.

Afridi has been languishing in a Pakistani jail for five-and-a-half years. According to an Islamabad official, talks about Afridi’s possible release gained steam toward the end of last year and there has been a renewed willingness to figure out an appropriate time and means to have the doctor – who is said to be declining in health – discharged.

I was so disgusted that Pakistan jailed this guy. It really shows who's side they are on. I'm glad there are now talks to release him. By all accounts he's entitled to the reward money that was placed on Usma's head.

We should have cut money to Pakistan a long time ago!

Pakistan is a sworn enemy. They earned that title for the Taliban, for Al Qaeda, for Bin Laden. For harboring the fighters in Afghanistan who regroup and reform every year by crossing the "border". By comparison, Iran is far removed from terrorism and attacks against us.

And the doctor. They harbor Bin Laden adjacent to a military academy, and they strike down the man who enabled justice.
There can be no repayment or restoration for his suffering. Releasing him now would not change my hatred for their actions.

If there is any nuclear country worth challenging as first to fall to war, it is them. Were we capable.

It is for another generation to look at Pakistan differently.
