Dealing with Philips is a nightmare

I called Philips Priority for some warranty work on my TV. They said they would send someone out. The next day, they call me to say that I'm still under the original manufacturer's warranty, and that someone from Philips would be contacting me. Nobody from Philips ever contacted me. So I call them, tell them the issue I'm having (my HDMI input is not working properly), and they give me a few locations to call. None of them would do it. So I called again for a few more places. Again, I had no luck. Most of these places either wouldn't do Philips warranty work, or wanted me to take the TV to them. I'm not going to lug a 150 pound CRT to a shop.

So I decided to wait until October when my Philips Priority contract was supposed to kick in. Well when I called in today to schedule a service call, they told me they wouldn't do it since it was a "pre-existing condition." I'm pissed that I spent $65 on an extended warranty that they won't even allow me to use. Dealing with Philips has been a nightmare. I shouldn't have to make 6-7 phone calls to get someone out here to diagnose my TV.

I don't know much about the other companies for comparison. Most places suck when it comes to warranty service these days because they always outsource it to the lowest bidder.

Can you call them back and tell them that "HDMI just stopped working" or do they already have personally identifiable info on the case?

They have info on the case. I'm filing a complaint with the BBB (not that it'll do anything)

I tried to get Phillips to replace a monitor that I had with dead pixels. After lots of arguing with them on the phone, I realized they weren't going to budge. I wrote a stern letter to their complaint department, and they never replied. I'll never buy any of their products again.

It took me a while to get my Panasonic TV repaired (the backlight was causing a buzz) - went through 2 authorised dealers and several phone calls before it was resolved under warranty. I know it's infuriating but just keep persevering like Fausto said and you'll get the right result.

I have to agree.. my first HDTV was a 30 inch Phillips CRT & it failed within 48 hours of turning it on for the first time. I called Phillips & they referred me to several local warranty repair locations, none of which would honor the on-site warranty which was supposedly included with the unit & only one was willing to accept the unit for repair with me bringing it in AND told me it would be literally months before they were able to fix it!

Fortunatly I had purchased it new at my local Best Buy & so I returned it to them & exchanged it for a Sony 34 inch model instead... I'll never buy another Phillips product again either!

Sounds exactly like my situation. I'll keep pestering them.

Welp I must be one of the lucky ones then, although I could point you to over 2 dozen other people on here who had the same "luck" with their Philips HDTV as I did.

I've had my refurbed 30" Philips CRT HDTV for over a year now and it's been working fine since day 1. Sure it's not the most perfect TV in the world and it does weight half a ton, but the HD on it is very nice and I haven't had any problems with the HDMI or component inputs.

The Philips upconverting DVD player I got for it looks awesome too BTW and I've only had problems getting DVD-DL's to work in it so far.

I agree. They can't even make lightbulbs that work in my experience. I would never dream of buying a TV by Philips (or anything else for that matter).

Get the number to Corp HQ and call asking to speak to the CEO, tell them you're calling to tell him what terrible service his company provides. I did this with a company after getting the runaround, my issue was dealt with immediately.

If that doesnt work just call several times a day every day until they get so tired of having to deal with you they give in. You have to remember that these people don't care about you, they care about making things as easy as possible for themselves.

My Phillips TV looked pretty good too for the two days it worked ... the main reason I'll never buy another Phillips product (at least not an expensive one) has to do with my attempts to get it serviced which were a lesson in futility. Also the repair places I spoke with all said the same thing... Phillips gives them a ton of problems before paying them for warranty repairs and takes forever to supply parts.
