So I bought some Memorex DVD+R media awhile back and it is very bad stuff. Almost every burn has validation errors.

I burned Windows XP x64 Eval iso file and it was bad so I winrar it into 15 meg pieces and then burned them but when I tested it on the disc it had crc failures in 15 of the rars. The files can be copied but they won't extract the iso file.

Anybody have a fool proof method for creating and recovering important data from DVD media ?

I was thinking of creating a iso file first and then using par2 creating parity files and then burning the iso.

par2 works even if some of the blocks are missing.

This seems time consuming though, anybody have a better solution ?
