Why are dealerships always horrible? Is there some good reason for it?
My dad bought a car at a dealership about a year ago, first time either of us had bought a car at one. Will NEVER go back to one again unless I have some
family/friend connection.
I mean, we didn't get ripped off because we aren't idiots, but they treat you like you are no matter what. Also they wanted to charge us 400 dollars fora remote on a 2005 model?!?! Not to mention the fact that it ALREADY HAD ONE when we test drove it but the guy argued for 20 minutes saying that it didn't, and that they only match the remotes to the cars after they sell them. We called the guy a crook to his face and he got all flustered and started talking about his great family and how he's a stand up guy blah blah blah. He left the room all angry and came back 5 minutes later with a remote for us, said "there must have been some mistake."
The asshole gave us the remote a week ago to unlock the doors, then called us liars for saying the car had one, then made up a bullshit story about none of the cars having remotes until after they are sold, then cried about his life, then gave us the damn remote.

It's like the video with the guy in front of that bank of computers from a few years back.

Looks like the dealer training works for most people, including most of my family.
They just bought a new 2009 Honda Civic DX, and they appear to be extremely happy to have paid the sticker price with floor mats and rust protection thrown in free.
Now, whenever I bring up the fact that Honda sales are down 30%, economy sucks, automakers are dying, you paid sticker price, you did not shop around, you did not try to bargain, you paid cash, they get upset at me. Oh, at least we got $1000 worth of 500% markup floor mats and rust protection free:roll:.
